How to Keep Customers Coming Back

How to get customers to come back for more

"How do you get customers to come back for more business?" is an age old question that has yet to receive a final answer. Even I cannot give you the say all solution to gaining repeat customers. Though through nearly a decade of being a business owner, I can definitely show you some tips and tricks to help get you on your way to finding repeat customers. You can use these tips to help cultivate the perfect equation for customer retention.

1. Get Personal

Your never going to truly gain the loyalty of your customers, if you don't get to know them personally. Likewise, if they don't have the opportunity to get to know you personally, your chances are low when it comes to getting to know them in detail. The next challenge, is remembering everything the customer told you about themselves and then catering their experiences with your business, to fit what you know about them. You'll also want to make sure not to mix up customers in conversation, so that you can ask them how their spouse/kid is, or how their job is going.

2. Get Involved

Most of your customers are actively involved in something. It could be political, economical, familial or cultural. These are all things you can find a way to get involved with, once you get to know your customers. If you're having a hard time getting to know your customers enough to find out what they are involved with, you can also go a different route and get involved in a cause close to your heart. You could start a campaign to donate to your favorite charity, or start up an event that gives back to your community or you could produce some killer content on a blog that you write. These are all great ways to get yourself and your customers involved in something together. This creates a commonality that your customers will treasure. Like attracts like.

3. Great Customer Service

I can't tell you how many times I went to use a service or buy a product and found that the customer services was really poor for the business I was attempting to interact with. This can be a big turn off for most of your customers, and aside from gaining customer loyalty, it's also just a good practice to be in the habit of.

In order to make sure you have stellar customer service, you'll want to make sure that you have a website with a full and clear FAQ page and an About page. You'll also want to have a facebook fan page run by someone who can field most customer service issues, or whom can at least connect your customers with the right person/department to help them. Make sure that you have a 24/7 answering service for those that need to call for any reason, and if you really want to be a hit, you should also have a 24/7 online chat help service. Liveperson is most commonly used.
