Your Reviews and How Companies Handle Them

In a personal experience; I have been rating on various products either positive or neutral. I rarely post negative reviews unless I feel that is simply ridiculous that the consumer is encouraged to purchase a product that simply does not do what it says it will. In this case I posted a negative review

You can literally find reviews on just about everything today; restaurants, electronics, websites, salons. You name it you can find a review for it, there are even web sites that are specifically made for you read and post reviews.  Have you ever wondered what happened with these reviews after you leave them?  A few people may read them, some may even take what you say into consideration if you bothered to leave any detail as to why you liked or disliked the product, but what then? Reviews are rated on a star system usually from one star to five, what happens to those negative reviews.

In a personal experience;  I have been rating on various products either positive or neutral. I rarely post negative reviews unless I feel that is simply ridiculous that the consumer is encouraged to purchase a product that simply does not do what it says it will.  In this case I posted a negative review on protective device bought for a cell phone, I only stated the facts about why I felt the product was not beneficial.  It was just a mere 10 minutes after I posted the review and my phone rang, to my surprise it was the company that sold the merchandise I was reporting about in my review.  The customer service representative asked why I was unhappy with the product and gave me time to explain, I told them exactly what I had posted in the review that they must have read or they wouldn't have been calling.  I was actually very impressed that they had taken notice and got back to me as this is the first time that has ever happened. She was very kind and apologized that there was problems with the item and offered to send me new merchandise or refund my original cost of the item...... on the contingency the I remove the negative review!  I was shocked.

So we take time to write reviews to let the consumer know about the products we receive, we take time to read these reviews because they are from other people just like you and me that has had an experience worth sharing.  This used to be a great tool for the consumer.  Now a product with a list of good reviews will certainly make me wonder how many negative reviews were paid off to keep their review site in high standing.  I was amazed that the company was willing to buy a clean review slate over a $5.00 product and hide the truth from the public.
